Peru Humanitarian Journey
Lima • Cusco • Sacred Valley • Machu Picchu
May 12 – 19, 2026
Join Chair the Love on an unforgettable humanitarian adventure to Peru—a journey that blends meaningful service, cultural immersion, and one of the world’s most iconic wonders: Machu Picchu.
This experience is designed for travelers who want to make a real impact while discovering Peru’s rich history, vibrant communities, and breathtaking landscapes. Together, we will deliver the gift of mobility through face-to-face wheelchair distributions, while also exploring ancient Inca sites, colorful cities, and the Sacred Valley.
🌎 A Journey with Purpose
During our time in Lima, participants will take part in two wheelchair distribution days, working directly with local communities in San Juan de Miraflores and La Victoria. These powerful moments of service are at the heart of Chair the Love—creating human connection, dignity, and lasting change.
Beyond the humanitarian work, the journey offers a carefully curated cultural experience, including historic city tours, local cuisine, artisan markets, and meaningful group moments.
🏔️ Visiting Machu Picchu & High-Altitude Awareness
Machu Picchu and the city of Cusco are located at high altitude (Cusco sits at approximately 11,150 feet / 3,400 meters above sea level). Some travelers may experience mild altitude-related symptoms, such as fatigue, shortness of breath, headache, or light dizziness—especially during the first day or two.
To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, this itinerary is intentionally designed with gradual acclimatization and rest periods.
Helpful recommendations to reduce altitude discomfort include:
- Built-in acclimatization time upon arrival in Cusco
- Staying well hydrated and avoiding heavy meals and alcohol initially
- Drinking coca tea, a traditional and widely used natural remedy
- Moving slowly and limiting strenuous activity during the first 24 hours
- Optional altitude medication (to be discussed with your healthcare provider prior to travel)
Our experienced guides and Chair the Love team will be present throughout the journey to support your comfort and well-being.
